Meet the GAC Aion Hyper SSR, a China-made supercar with a 1.9s launch time

Chinese automaker GAC Aion has unveiled the Hyper SSR, a production vehicle it styles as “China’s number 1 supercar”. The standard trim will set you back the equivalent of U.S. $170,000, while going for the Ultimate spec will cost $225,000 before any options.

The supercar has a body length of 4,556 mm, width of 1,988 and height of 1,230 mm (inches: 178 x 77.7 x 48). The wheelbase is rather short at 2,650 mm (103.5 in).

The front axle houses a single synchronous electric motor that outputs 320 kW or power. The rear axle gets propulsion from two synchro motors rated at 260 and 320 kW. The combined output amounts to 1,224 metric horsepower, or 1,207 U.S. horsepower, or 900 kilowatts.

Equipped like this, the Hyper SSR needs 1.9 seconds to reach 100 km/h (62 mph) and maxes out at 251 km/h (156 mph).

From the design perspective, the car has slim L-shaped headlights, cooling vents spanning a large surface area, 20-inch wheels, a roof spoiler, side skirts and assorted decorative trims.
