2nd-gen Haval H5 goes in production in China

Haval has fully revealed its second-generation H5 SUV. The model has retained its body-on-frame design but moved upmarket and will now be competing with Toyota’s Land Cruiser for customer attention.

The new H5 has been built on the same platform as the Great Wall Poer KingKong (see video). The buyers can order it with one out of two available 2.0-liter engines. The turbo petrol one makes 218 PS (215 hp / 160 kW) and the turbo diesel churns out 166 PS (164 hp / 122 kW). Both default to an eight-speed automatic transmission, but manual is also an option.

Inside, there are digital gauges, a 12.3-inch multimedia system and a panoramic sunroof. Climate control, on the other hand, is not even optionally available.

The production is already underway in China with the first domestic shipments scheduled for late 2023.
