There is no conceivable way a normal Honda Civic can surpass the legendary Porsche 911 RSR in straight-line acceleration, but neither of the opponents in this video is what it seems.
Beginning with the Civic, it is a model year 1992 hatchback extensively modified for drag racing. It no longer has its standard engine, instead running with a Honda Accord heart under the hood boosted to around 600 brake horsepower. The tuning plan involved a Precision turbocharger and a host of other drag-friendly modifications.
Going up against it is a car that looks like the winner of the Targa Flores race from half a century ago. In reality, however, it is a regular Porsche 911 with a body that dates back to 1978. Its owner provides few details, but reveals that, aside from a convincing RSR-style aero kit, it has a seriously modernized engine and transmission. The output is estimated as being somewhere between 600 and 700 horsepower.
