Honda CEO hints that an NSX successor is in the works

The discontinued Honda/Acura NSX hybrid will be getting an all-electric successor in the future. It will top an all-new EV range and be significantly different from the second generation, Honda CEO Toshihiro Mibe shared in an interview.

At the beginning of the year Honda came to the CES show in Las Vegas with concept vehicles named Saloon and Space-Hub. Both were designed to preview the company’s impending family of electric vehicles, the 0 (Zero) Series.

After introducing the concepts at the show, Mibe said the Honda Research HQ was already actively working on an all-electric sports car. HE declined further comment and didn’t reveal any specifications.

The first 0 Series vehicles are slated to arrive in 2026. They will most likely be based on Honda’s previously announced in-house platform e:Architecture. The purported NSX successor will sport a low stance, a passenger pod pushed closer to the front end, and a minimalist driver’s cockpit.

The car is expected to utilize a much thinner battery than Honda’s other recent EVs. Its motors will make use of invertors and reducers grouped into compact powertrain units to maximize the interior space.

Acura Design HQ in the USA revealed some sketches of an electric sports car concept last summer. You will find them in the gallery and the video here. Just whether the new Acura NSX will look like this or not remains to be seen.
