Hyundai Elexio reveals cabin

Hyundai has posted the first interior shots of its mid-sized Elexio crossover EV designed for China. It will be made at the Beijing-Hyundai factory and is scheduled for launch in September.

A giant dash display seems to be the main selling point. There are no conventional instrument gauges anywhere in sight, and the transmission tunnel is wide enough to fit two cup holders and two charging pads in base spec.

The main display is 27 inches wide and features a 4K resolution, Hyundai claims. It’s unclear whether it’s a single stretched screen or multiple displays put together, but the company promises two independent picture outputs for the driver and the front passenger. As for the instruments, they can be projected onto the windshield using a high-contrast HUD with three selectable presentation modes.

The only physical buttons available are on the steering wheel and column. Among other things, there’s a dedicated switch for regenerative braking modes. Hyundai also points out 29 different pockets and niches for small items throughout the cabin – that’s in addition to the car’s standard 506 liters (17.87 cubic feet) of trunk space.

In terms of dimensions, the Elexio is 4.6 meters (179.7 inches) long and has 2,750 mm (107.4 inches) between axles. Two powertrains have been announced: one with a single electric motor rated at 218 PS (215 hp / 160 kW) and the other with an extra motor contributing 99 PS (98 hp / 73 kW). Both are expected to have around 700 km (435 miles) of range, but this remains to be confirmed.
