Next-gen Hyundai Verna set to debut on March 21

Hyundai will start selling the new Verna sedan in India on March 21, 2023, Autocar India reports. The same model is known as Accent or Solaris in other regions. Here’s what we know about the latest version.

Based on the official images, the four-door car looks much more like its upmarket cousins Elantra and Grandeur, and very different from the current design. The interior, on the other hand, remains to be revealed.

For the engines, the old 1.4-liter turbo option will no longer be available. The new top spec will be using a 1.5-liter engine rated at 160 PS (158 hp / 118 kW), mated to either six-speed manual or seven-speed DCT transmission. Those in the market for a cheaper car will still be able to get the old 1.5-liter naturally aspirated engine good for 115 PS (113 hp / 85 kW) with either manual or CVT.

When it does arrive, the new Verna will have to compete for customer attention with the Skoda Slavia and the Volkswagen Virtus. Media in India expect the new generation to cost more than the preceding one.
