Chery iCar V27 hits spotlight in Dubai

Chery has come to Dubai, UAE to unveil the latest entry on its iCar lineup, dubbed the V27. The vehicle is export-oriented and is a serial hybrid with up to 200 km (124 miles) of electric range, Carz reports quoting unofficial sources.

The official powertrain specifications will have to wait. Chery used the Dubai presentation event mainly to share its plans regarding the promotion of the iCar outside of China. It also showed the SUV without any pre-production wraps on, allowing us a first glimpse at the exterior.

A boxy body with bulky bumpers and flared fenders with black inserts make the iCar V27 look like a capable off-road vehicle. It also boasts fender-mounted turn indicators, two transparent roof sections, a spare wheel on the tailgate and wide c-pillars.

Unofficial reports are saying that the whole thing is around 5 meters (195 inches) long with 3 meters (117 inches) between the axles, putting it on par with the Toyota Land Cruiser 300. The powertrain allegedly consists of a 1.5-liter engine acting as a power generator and either one or two electric motors driving the wheels. The top spec reportedly produces 450 PS (444 hp / 331 kW).

In most markets outside of China, the V27 will be sold under a modified brand name “iCAUR”, apparently because the original is already taken. This badge will deal exclusively with EVs and hybrids and will be present in the Middle East, Southeastern Asia, Russia and Europe.

Sales in China are scheduled to begin in late 2025, while the other markets will likely have to wait until the next year.
