2026 Kia Niro announced with mild updates, same tech

The five-door Niro hatchback gets a cleaner front end design heading into the new model year, and should be available on its usual markets starting in March.

On the outside, the compact car features a radiator grille that seems tucked in under the front bumper and reshaped headlights with ray-like DRLs. The décor is minimal, the taillights are partly darkened, and the tailgate is much larger and more convenient now that the rear bumper has been cut to accommodate it.

Inside, the head unit and the digital dashboard are now the same size and the HVAC controls are physical once again. The steering wheel is subtly squared from the top and the bottom, and the Kia emblem sits off-center on the hub.

Like before, the Niro is obtainable in hybrid and EV variants. The former is based on a 1.6-liter turbocharged engine and delivers either 141 PS (139 hp / 104 kW) or 183 PS (180 hp / 135 kW) based on the spec. The EV has a fixed 204 PS (201 hp / 150 kW).
