Autocar: Lamborghini Urus to go hybrid in 2024, all-electric in 2029

The Urus will drop its standard V8 engine as soon as the development of a dedicated hybrid powertrain for it is complete, Autocar reports quoting Lamborghini CEO. Furthermore, the company’s plans include releasing a battery-electric version of the luxury SUV in 2029.

All we know about this new powertrain to date is that it will be based on a 4.0-liter turbo V8 and will stay in production for five years. It may be discontinued as soon as the EV version comes out.

The successor to the Huracan model, which is currently in active development, will also run on hybrid power. Rumor has it that it, too, will ditch its iconic V10 in favor of a modified Urus engine.
