2027 Lexus IS rumored specs leak online

Best Car Japan claims quoting sources inside Lexus that the next generation of the IS sedan will be offered exclusively as an electric car. A high-performance “F” variant is allegedly also in the works.

While the automaker has yet to confirm any of this, we hear that the next Lexus IS generation is slated for year 2027 premiere. It will reportedly be 80 mm (3.1”) longer than the current one, with a total body length of 4,800 mm (187.5”), and will ship in two main flavors. The base spec will get a single electric motor to drive the rear axle, while the top spec will take advantage of two motors driving one axle each for 500 PS (492 hp / 368 kW) total. This AWD spec will likely be known as the next Lexus IS F, per the rumors.

Nothing has been revealed regarding the exterior of the car. While the current generation (see video) is sedan-shaped, the new one reportedly looks more like a liftback, drawing inspiration from the Lexus LF-ZC Concept. The latter debuted in the fall of 2023 and partially inspired the new Lexus ES when it hit the spotlight in Japan last spring.

Before the next-gen IS can be revealed, however, it still has a facelift to go through. Revealed in January 2026, the refreshed saloon features a revised front panel design with two separate 12.3-inch displays installed, a redesigned center console, and more trim material and color options on the list. For its own part, the IS F gets a reworked rear spoiler.
