3rd-gen Mazda CX-5 debuts in the U.S. and Canada

After its global announcement in mid-2025, the Mazda CX-5 has now made it to North America. It will only be available with a 2.5-liter Skyactiv-G inline-four engine for the time being, but a hybrid variant is on its way, too.

With similar L-shaped LED headlights and stretched taillights, the crossover doesn’t look any different from the international version. Compared to the previous generation, it is 114 mm (4.5 inches) taller and benefits from 117 mm (4.6 inches) of extra wheelbase. In absolute terms, it is now 4,689 mm (183.2 inches) long with 2,814 mm (109.9 inches) between the axles.

Customers are choosing from five available trims. The base one includes 17-inch wheels, a textile interior, a 10.25-inch digital dash display, a 12.9-inch infotainment screen and a two-zone HVAC. The driver gets a backup camera, lane control, AEB, ACC, and blind spot monitoring. Higher trim levels unlock such niceties as roof rails, power-assisted tailgate, projected HUD, heated steering wheel and heated seats, as well as more ADAS.

Things stay unchanged on the powertrain front. The old Skyactiv-G 2.5 still churns out its standard 190 PS (187 hp / 140 kW) and 252 Nm (188 lb-ft) of torque. A plug-in hybrid version is coming in a year or so, Mazda says without revealing any further details.

Prices in the United States start from $29,990 before taxes and destination fees. The top trim will set you back $38,990. The Turbo version of the CX-5 is no longer being updated, but you can grab a previous-generation example starting from $29,050 while they are still in stock.
