Japanese wheel manufacturer Enkei is continuing to expand its Neo Classic wheel collection with a new design called Al’Vita. It may look like your typical stamped steel wheel, but it is actually machined from lightweight aluminum.
The design is hardly new, since it harkens back to a set called Al’Life that was released in 1990. The rim is 16 inches in diameter and has 16 holes in it arranged in a circular pattern, as well as four more around the hub. It may be mistaken for a steelie at a glance, but a closer look reveals finely machined details and a carefully sculpted, intricate shape that most steelies lack.
In addition to a more upmarket appearance, the Al’Vita is lighter and at the same time sturdier than the common steel wheel. Enkei even claims that its design makes it every bit as robust as a forged wheel, although no forging is performed on this model.
The novelty will reach the stores of Japan in October. Buyers will be choosing between two finish options: Sparkle Silver (light) and Hyper Silver (slightly darker). A single wheel will cost the equivalent of U.S. $306, and the whole set will set you back $1,224 before taxes and shipping fees.
