Catch a glimpse of the elusive chameleon-tinted McLaren Elva worth $2.75M

A nearly pristine McLaren Elva assembled earlier this year and having 132 km (82 miles) on the counter will go on sale in late August expected to get $2.6 - $2.75 million thanks to its condition and rare exterior finish.

The main thing that differentiates the Elva speedster (see video) from the rest of the modern day’s McLaren lineup is its missing top and glass dome. The car consists of an open carbon-fiber monocoque and uses a 4.0-liter turbocharged V8 with 815 PS (804 hp / 600 kW) to launch itself to highway speed in no more than 3 seconds.

The abundant carbon fiber ensures that the whole supercar weighs in under 1.2 metric tons, a record-low number compared to other McLarens of the present day.

The Elva debuted three years ago and had been originally expected to hip in a series of 399 units priced from $1.7 million. The automaker then proceeded to review its production capacities towards a smaller run, and ultimately stopped the assembly lines once only 149 units were made. This one was number 122 to roll off the conveyor belt.

Aside from its next-to-zero mileage, this example has another thing going for it. Called the Pacific Color Stream, it is a body finish that changes color dependent on the available lighting and view angle. The interior makes use of more carbon fiber and black synthetic trim.
