$20,000 buys you an actual car or this richly detailed McLaren W1 replica

Amalgam has unveiled its latest pricey creation: a faithful 1:8 scale reproduction of the McLaren W1. As usual, the replica was co-developed with the designers of the original hypercar, partly explaining the £14,995 asking price before any custom wishes.

According to Amalgam, it took more than 3,000 workhours to sketch up the scale model, and each production example takes around 300 hours of handiwork to put together. Only 199 will be made, each given an authentic orange paintjob and a black interior, but you can order a custom finish/trim combo instead for a cool £20,995.

The replica comes in at just over 57 cm (22.3”) long and has a power-assisted active rear wing, just like the original. The doors open, and the interior is about as detailed as the real thing.
