Unlike popular tuners like Brabus, Lorinser or Mansory, the budding customizer Hofele always strives to prioritize elegance and understatement over kitsch and hype, targeting older and well-to-do customers. This Hofele HGLE Coupé is its latest creation.
Built with the Mercedes-AMG GLE 53 for starting point, the car boasts a gloss-black paint alongside a slew of chrome details. Many will find its aesthetics somewhat dated, but vintage luxury car lovers might prefer the term ‘timeless’. The same applies to the design of the 22-inch Mythos wheels with their numerous thin spokes, and the leather-clad interior with Alcantara inserts.
The off-roader still relies on its stock inline-six engine rated at 435 PS (429 hp / 320 kW) and 520 Nm (384 lb-ft) for propulsion. It reaches 100 km/h (62 mph) in 5.3 seconds and maxes out at 250 km/h (155 miles per hour).
