Car Tuning
Where do you go on a vacation during a coronavirus lockdown? Wilderness really seems like the safest bet! If you agree, the 2020 Caravan Salon opening tomorrow in Düsseldorf, Germany has many interesting vehicle concepts in store for you. For now, however, let us just look at this specific Mercedes Sprinter.
Responsible for the project is La Strada, a German motorhome maker that has already won a prize for exceptional car design earlier this year. The tuner takes a regular Sprinter and retrofits it with everything aimed at the maximum possible comfort during travels – sound and heat insulation, darkened windows, sturdy framework for all the added weight, and more. The drive stays on the rear axle by default, but there is nothing preventing you from opting for AWD, automatic transmission and plenty of electronic assists.
The living area makes intensive use of lightweight and practical glass-fiber panels and contains a bed for two, a small bunk at the tailgate, a kitchenette with a stove and a sink, a 80l fridge, a dining area and a bathroom/WC. Trimming options include wood, leather, imitation leather and cloth upholstery.
You can get a RWD van with 163 hp (121 kW) under the hood starting from €98,930. Throw in a couple of comfort packages, and you are looking forward to spending €105,499.
