MG has properly introduced its latest mid-size sedan, the 07, in China. It’s coming to the market in hybrid and all-electric flavors priced between 150,000 and 200,000 Yuan (22,100–29,450 USD).
It also looks like a crossbreed between the Porsche Taycan and the Tesla Model Y. The headlights, the body outlines and the wheels in particular give off strong Taycan vibes, while the rear end looks more Tesla-esque.
Size-wise, it’s a fairly large car at 4,886 mm (192.4 inches) long, 1,900 mm (74.8 inches) wide and 1,485 mm (58.5 inches) tall with 2,825 mm (111.2 inches) of wheelbase. China categorizes it under “mid-size”, but that just goes on to highlight the preferences of the local drivers.
On the technical side of things, MG promises us a semi-autonomous driving system based on a LiDAR, as well as all the advantages of the Momenta R7 EV chassis developed by SAIC Group. The powertrains remain to be announced, but rumors claim that the hybrid will get 207 PS (204 hp / 152 kW) from its electric system alone, while the EV will get 230 PS (227 hp / 169 kW). The combustion engine will be restricted to generating power for the motors – no physical link to the wheels, or so we hear.
MG should follow up with the specifics in the coming days or weeks, so stay tuned if you want the exact numbers.
