MINI’s new electric car presents spec sheet in the UK

MINI has presented the next generation of its entry-level three-door car in Great Britain. Although still wrapped in camo, the EV is set to debut in May 2023 and surpass the current Cooper SE (see video) in terms of both range and power output.

The British marque’s most basic three-door hatchback is currently being sold under the simple nameplate ‘MINI’ regardless of the door count, but its new generation will be called MINI Cooper, symbolizing a homecoming of sorts for the iconic model.

For the same reason, the model will get slightly different proportions. It will remain around 3.8 meters long, but gain a longer wheelbase and shorter overhangs at both ends. The exterior will be reworked to resemble the Aceman Concept.

In its cheapest guise, the Mini Cooper Electric will continue using the current motor rated at 184 PS (181 hp / 135 kW). A more premium version is slated to arrive later on with 220 PS (217 hp / 162 kW) or so.

Battery sizes will go up across the board, too. The current Cooper SE offers around 250 km (155 miles) of driving before charging becomes necessary again. In contrast, the new lineup will begin from 404 km (250 miles) and work its way up from there. The one thing that will remain unavailable is all-wheel drive, MINI says.
