The Japanese official website of Mitsubishi states that the Mirage compact is no longer available for ordering. The company has not made an official statement regarding this news yet. The Mirage is also sold in a number of other countries, including the USA, so it could be expected to go out of sale there, too.
The decision to stop sales is unsurprising, as more and more carmakers abandon their compact car lineups in favor of producing crossovers and SUVs.
Back in 2021, Mitsubishi managed to sell 22,000 Mirage units in the United States, surpassing the result from the year before but falling short of pre-pandemic numbers. In January–September 2022, it has managed to move fewer than 13,000 units on the same market.
The sixth-generation Mitsubishi Mirage has been around since 2012 and received two mid-life updates so far, the latest of them in 2019.
