The Japanese car manufacturer Mitsubishi has changed some of its plans regarding the next-generation Outlander SUV following its acceptance into the Renault-Nissan alliance. In particular, it has decided to use the existing Renault-Nissan car platform as basis for the new vehicle instead of developing a new one from scratch. This was done to cut the production costs and make the car more affordable overall.
In an earlier news, it has been revealed that the new Mitsubishi Outlander would inherit much of its exterior design traits from the Mitsubishi GT-PHEV Concept which debuted a couple years ago.
Rumors have it that the next-gen Mitsubishi Outlander had originally been scheduled for premiere later this year. After the conclusion of the alliance with Renault-Nissan, however, it has been postponed for at least two years.
