AEV Outpost II is a Jeep Wrangler JK-based camper SUV

American Expedition Vehicles (AEV) has decided to celebrate the discontinuation of the Jeep Wrangler JK line by turning one of these into a full-fledged camper.

The team worked with the Wrangler Unlimited trim. They decided to keep the wheelbase intact, but extend the frame to allow for more interior space.

The van part of the AEV Outpost II is made of glass-fiber reinforced plastic and features an electronically-controlled roof with solar panels mounted on it. The cooking stove and the fridge are attached to the outside part of the van so as not to take up precious space. The motorhome offers a single sofa doubling as a bed, a water tank, a compressor and central heating. A sink and a shower should be added later.

Among other things, the engineers had to upgrade the suspension and brakes to compensate for the increased weight of the vehicle. They also ditched the stock 3.6-liter engine for a 5.7-liter HEMI V8 equipped with a snorkel.

As a pure concept car, the AEV Outpost II will never hit production.
