BMW switches to a new, innovative chassis design for its entire vehicle range

As you may have heard, BMW has come to the Los-Angeles Auto Show with a futuristic SUV called the Vision iNext Concept. Well, as it turns out, that wasn’t by far the only ace up the German car manufacturer’s sleeve. A groundbreaking all-purpose chassis design – now, that’s the real sensation material!

The company said the new chassis was equally well-suited for the production of traditional cars equipped with internal combustion engines, hybrid vehicles and EVs – all using the same assembly line!

The mass-produced version of the iNext Concept will be the first car to take advantage of the new chassis. Its unparalleled versatility will enable the engineers to merge the electric engine, the transmission and the ECU into a single easily manageable unit.

BMW also counts on the new chassis to help it stay afloat on the rapidly changing market: should the traditional gasoline and diesel cars remain sufficiently popular over the course of several years, the company will have no trouble supplying them to meet the demand. If, on the other hand, a rapid switch to hybrids and EVs occurs, BMW also won’t lose any time readjusting its priorities.

Finally yet importantly, the new chassis is said to support high-capacity batteries that offer up to 700 kilometers (435 milies) of driving range once fully charged.
