This is what the 1,000-hp Aston Martin Valkyrie engine looks like

British automotive company Aston Martin has finally shown us the engine of the upcoming Valkyrie hypercar. The 6.5-liter, twelve-cylinder unit is capable of producing more than 1,000 hp (750 kW).

The engine weighs over 200 kilograms (440 lb). Some of its parts, such as the pistons and the crankshaft, utilize the Formula 1-level tech.

The hypercar also features an electric motor with the regenerative brake system.

Rumor has it that the Aston Martin Valkyrie will take advantage of ultra-lightweight batteries developed by Croatian hypercar builder Rimac. There is no official confirmation to date, though.

What we do know is that the car weighs as little as 1,030 kg (2,270 lb) and comes out in a series of 150. Actually, it is no longer even available, since all 150 copies have already been sold out in pre-orders.

Aston Martin has enlisted the help of Red Bull for the project. The company says the car will be getting a sophisticated aero kit capable of producing unparalleled amounts of downforce.
