The next Land Rover Defender premieres in 2019, goes on sale in 2020

Land Rover has posted the first teaser photo of the next-gen Defender SUV on its Facebook page. Too bad the vehicle is completely wrapped in a camouflage cladding that reads “No not unwrap until 2019”.

Even though the car won’t premiere until next year, the British manufacturer promises to reveal more details about it on December 27, 2018.

The company has previously been spotted testing three- and five-door variants of the new Defender out in the open, and some say there will be a pickup variant available as well.

The next-generation Land Rover Defender utilizes a brand-new lightweight chassis design with independent wheel suspension. It will likely ship with an assortment of 2.0-liter turbo V4s (gasoline and diesel) and V6s to choose from, but no V8s. A hybrid version is also likely.

The premiere of the new Land Rover Defender will coincide with the 70th anniversary of the British car manufacturer. First cars will reach their owners in 2020.
