VW mobile charging station can juice up 4 EVs in 17 minutes

Volkswagen AG said it would launch a network of brand-new mobile charging stations in Germany next year. Each station will support up to 4 simultaneous connections and take no longer than 17 minutes to get your car to full charge.

‘Mobile’ means you can order the station to arrive at a location that is most convenient to you, be it next to a major event like a concert or a show, in a neighborhood, next to an office building or on a parking lot.

A single 360kW station will be able to replenish the batteries of at least 15 all-electric vehicles before running out of charge. As stated above, it will support up to four simultaneous connections.

According to Volkswagen, the mobile stations are extremely convenient since they don’t need an external power source. As soon as one of them runs out of its own charge, another one can take its place immediately.

The technology will be first introduced in Wolfsburg and reach the rest of Germany in 2020.
