Ford premieres the 6th-gen Explorer SUV

Car manufacturer Ford has unveiled the sixth generation of its Explorer SUV family at a special event in Detroit. The new generation will launch this summer priced at U.S. $32,700 and above.

The car now utilizes the rear-drive CD6 platform by default, but you may get it in the AWD version if you want to. Most of its bodywork is stainless steel. It is 5,050 mm (16.57 ft.) long, 2,004 mm (6.57 ft.) wide and 1,778 mm (5.83 ft.) tall with 3,025 mm (9.92 ft.) between the axles.

On the outside, the next-gen Ford Explorer sports a new radiator grille, as well as reshaped lighting and air intakes.

The seven-seat SUV ships with a number of factory options, such as a rear view camera, AEB, lane control, two-zone climate control, and an 8-inch SYNC 3 touchscreen display for the multimedia system. Further options include a digital dashboard, adaptive cruise control, parking assist, 360-degree round view camera system, and hi-end audio system.

The car will initially ship with a choice between a 2.3-liter turbo V4 and a 3.0L twin-turbo V6, the latter rated at 370 hp (276 kW). Both engines use a 10-speed automatic transmission to deliver power to the wheels. Ford promises to make a hybrid car available at a later date.

The new Ford Explorer series will be assembled in Chicago, USA.
