Subaru unveils WRX STI S209, its strongest production car ever

At the currently running motor show in Detroit, USA, Subaru has announced its most powerful production car to date. Called the WRX STI S209, the new vehicle is a sedan/saloon that comes armed with a 2.5-liter, flat-four engine rated at 345 hp (257 kW).

The new unit features a bulky high-pressure turbine charger, forged pistons and connecting rods, a larger injector, a new intercooler and a tuned ECU. It works in tandem with an enhanced version of the old six-speed manual transmission.

Aside from the above, the car features a permanent AWD, automatic diff lock, torque distribution system, Bilstein shock absorbers and Brembo performance brakes on the front axle.

U.S. sales of the Subaru WRX STI S209 begin in the fourth quarter of 2019. Prices are still unannounced.
