Audi TT RS facelift fails to impress

The Audi TT roadster & coupe family has received a mid-generational refresh in the summer of 2018, getting new looks along with better engines to choose among. Today, the company has unveiled a similar update for the performance line called the TT RS.

Spec-wise, neither the roadster nor the coupe offers anything new. Both still come driven by the old 2.5-liter turbocharged five-cylinder rated at 400 hp (298 kW) and 480 Nm (354 lbft) of torque, linked to a 7-speed dual-clutch transmission. The all-wheel-drive coupe accelerates 0-100 km/h (0-62 mph) in 3.7 seconds, while the roadster needs an extra 0.2s to accomplish the same.

Exterior novelty arrives in the form of larger air intakes left and right, black rear details mimicking air vents, and new wheels available in 19” and 20”. Separately available for the refreshed Audi TT RS are matrix LED-based headlights and OLED-based brake lights.

Sales begin this spring. The coupe starts at €67,700, while the open-top roadster goes for €70,500.
