Cupra Ateca ascends to 355 HP

The folks over at Je Design have released an upgrade package for the Cupra Ateca mini-SUV. The car has gained in both performance and style.

In its production version, the Ateca SUV ships with a 2.0-liter turbo V4 engine rated at 300 hp (224 kW) and 400 Nm (295 lbft) of torque. Impressive as it already is, a simple chip tuning takes it further up to 360 hp (268 kW) and 450 Nm (332 lbft) of torque. Once finished, the ECU remap enables the Spanish compact SUV to hit 100 km/h (62 mph) in 4.8 seconds (down 0.4s from series) and max out at 259 km/h (161 mph, up 12 km/h or 8 mph from series).

On the outside, you may tell the Cupra Ateca by Je Design from the others thanks to its larger wheel arches, additional bumper guards, a 30 mm (1.2”) reduction in ride height via springs, and custom wheels available in 19” and 20”, as well as two different finishes.

There’s a minor hitch, though. All purely aesthetic options alone cost the equivalent of U.S. $8,000, plus $2,280 for the chip tuning, plus installation and painting. You can actually buy a new supermini for that kind of money…
