Mercedes-Benz SL gets re-released in Grand Edition

German car manufacturer Mercedes-Benz has announced a special series of its RL (R231) roadster, called the Grand Edition. The luxury vehicle will be present at the company’s booth at the 2018 Geneva Motor Show in March, and should be available for pre-ordering in Europe starting in late February.

Buyers will have two trim versions to choose from, SL 400 (3.0L twin-turbo V6, 367 hp / 274 kW) and SL 500 (4.7L V8, 455 hp / 339 kW). Both come with the same nine-speed automatic transmission. The SL 400 concludes the standard sprint in 4.9 seconds, while the SL 500 accomplishes the same in 4.3s.

Available colors include four metallic tints, white, black, and a few grey/obsidian tints.

Aside from the exclusive paint scheme, you will be easily able to tell the Mercedes-Benz SL Grand Edition from its regular counterpart thanks to its unique set of 10-spoke AMG wheels (19 inches in front, 20 in the back).

The interior finish uses a combination of different leather types. Standard equipment includes heated headrests, ergonomic massage seats and a parking assist.

Mercedes plans to release the next-generation SL roadster in 2020. The car will make a move from the Mercedes-Benz into the Mercedes-AMG family and come equipped with a hybrid powertrain rated at 800 hp / 600 kW in its range-topping version.
