Italdesign premieres the DaVinci EV Concept

Coachbuilder Italdesign has brought its all-electric grand tourer concept called “DaVinci” into spotlight today. The company says the car has been conceptualized and designed for eventual mass production, but it remains to be seen whether any of the manufacturers out there would be interested in seeing it through to the release.

At almost five meters (16.5 ft.) long, the Italdesign DaVinci is what you would call a classical grand tourer. It boasts large 22-inch wheels wrapped in custom tires designed specifically for all-electric cars: extra quiet and easy to get moving from a standstill.

The four-seater also features giant gull-wing doors, sensor screen on the console, dashboard and steering wheel, and climate controls hidden under fabric upholstery (turn on the engine, and you will see them glowing directly under air vents).

The company doesn’t explicitly say so, but rumors claim the Italdesign DaVinci is a production-ready car concept that just needs a manufacturer to produce it. Given its main design features, we could assume that the coachbuilder is likely targeting Lamborghini. Both Italdesign and Lamborghini belong to the Volkswagen Group. Furthermore, aside from the electric powertrain, the chassis of the car can accommodate a traditional 4.0 V8 engine, which Lambo has in its lineup.
