This is what the 4th-gen Mitsubishi Outlander will look like

Mitsubishi has come to this year’s Geneva automobile salon with a hardcore-looking SUV called Engelberg Tourer Concept. The car borrows its name from the famous Swiss ski resort and is ultimately the prototype version of the fourth-gen Outlander SUV.

On the outside, the Mitsubishi Engelberg Tourer looks similar to the Xpander MPV and the L200 pickup truck. The cars share the same two-tier front fascia design with narrow-slit DRLs, an almost horizontal hood and enormous headlights.

The interior of the vehicle houses a flat dashboard with a shelf in its lower part, a giant multimedia touchscreen, air blowers that look integrated into horizontal trim bars, and a sloping center tunnel the likes of which we have seen in the Porsche Panamera and Cayenne. There is a gear selector, a climate control unit and a 4WD switch on it. Underneath is a roomy storage niche for smaller items.

There are three seat rows, the first two sporting individual seats and the third one represented by a single sofa.

The car comes powered by a hybrid drivetrain composed from a 2.4-liter gasoline engine used as a power generator and two electric engines on their respective axles. This is similar to what the current Outlander PHEV ships with.

The Mitsubishi Engelberg Tourer offers up to 70 kilometers (43.5 miles) of all-electric range. Once fully fueled and charged, it can cover up to 700 km (435 mi).

Aside from the SUV, Mitsubishi has premiered the Dendo Drive House, a solar panel installation connected to a temporary storage battery. The device can be used to replenish the battery of your car or provide power to your home.
