GEV unveils Patagonia, a hardcore off-road camper truck

U.S.-based coachbuilder Global Expedition Vehicles has come out with the Patagonia, an extremely capable motorhome based on a medium truck chassis that can go where most of its kin cannot. The vehicle comes priced at a hefty U.S. $465,000.

The show example is based on the Kenworth K370 mid-size truck, but the company also offers a similar conversion for the Mercedes-Benz Unimog. It is also approximately 2.1 meters (7 ft.) tall, 2.4 m (8 ft.) wide and 5.3 m (17.4 ft.) long, but you may choose a different chassis for the conversion and end up with a camper 8.8 m (almost 30 ft.) long.

On the outside, the all-terrain truck boasts composite/GRFP body panels that should provide sufficient wear resistance. Inside, there is a high-end audio system, a nice modern TV, a Bose Home Cinema system, a fully functional bathroom with a 510-liter water tank, a bed for two, a kitchen with granite surfaces, and even a dedicated dining area.

The Patagonia uses roof-mounted solar panels and a diesel power generator to provide power to its electric equipment, which includes the air conditioning system.

By default, the extreme camper vehicle ships with stainless-steel security locks and windows like those found on expedition SUVs. Global Expedition Vehicles offers such paid options as extra fuel tanks, winches both front and rear, storage boxes and racks, a barbeque set, and a water filter.
