Citroen C5 Aircross, Range Rover Evoque both score 5/5 Euro NCAP stars

The Euro NCAP Committee has concluded a series of crash tests of the new Range Rover Evoque and Citroen C5 Aircross. Let us look at the safety info breakdown.

Experts have found the driver and adult passenger safety of the Citroen C5 Aircross to be as high as 89%, with child safety ranking close enough at 86%. The car only scored 67% in biker and pedestrian safety, but received 82% in driver aid performance.

According to the independent association, a face-to-face frontal collision incurs risk of serious head trauma for the front passenger. A lateral collision may result in a chest injury for the driver. The front-facing edge of the hood, the a-pillars and the base of the windshield have all been identified as the largest threats during collisions with pedestrians. Despite this, the Citroen C5 scored 5 out of 5 stars for overall safety.

The Range Rover Evoque has also scored the maximum number of stars. In particular, it was awarded an impressive 94% in driver and front passenger safety, as well as 87% in child safety. Furthermore, the car has managed to get 72% in pedestrian safety, which is much more than SUVs usually get. Driver aid performance scored only 73% because Euro NCAP found flaws in the speed control and lane control systems.

The Range Rover Evoque has completed all crash tests, including the frontal and lateral collision, without major issues. The testing team only commented that rear passengers risk getting whiplash neck injuries if the car gets hit from behind. As for the pedestrians and cyclists, the front headlights and a-pillars have been found the primary safety concerns.
