Jaguar I-Pace reaps World Car of the Year, Best Design, and Green Car awards

The all-electric Jaguar I-Pace SUV has been awarded the World Car of The Year title at the ongoing 2019 New York International Auto Show in the USA. The vehicle also scored victories in the ‘Best Design’ and ‘Green Car’ categories.

Aside from the I-Pace, the Volvo S60, Volvo V60 and Audi e-tron were the main contenders for the title. 86 car journalists from all around the world voted to determine the winner.

In case you forgot, the Jaguar I-Pace comes equipped with two electric motors producing 400 hp (298 kW) and 696 Nm (513 lbft) together. It sprints from standstill to 100 km/h (62 mph) in 4.8 seconds and hits its artificial speed ceiling at 200 km/h (124 mph). Packing a large 90 kWh battery, it can travel up to 470 km (292 miles) before needing a recharge.

Moving on to other nominations, the Audi A7 won the Executive Car award, the Suzuki Jimny scored the Best Urban Car, and the McLaren 720S destroyed the competition as the Best Sports Car.
