Genesis says it wants to see its Essentia, Mint concepts on the market

Manfred Fitzgerald, the CEO of Genesis, said he wanted to launch mass production of the company’s two latest concepts, Essentia and Mint.

The Genesis Essentia debuted last year, while the Mint premiered this spring. The former is a tastefully designed two-door grand tourer vehicle, while the latter is an urban subcompact with two seats and groundbreaking design.

The Board of Directors of the South Korean car marque liked both cars so much they immediately approved their production. It remains unclear just how much of what we have seen so far will actually make it to the market, however.

The Essentia has better overall chances to become a production vehicle. Genesis has an ongoing cooperation agreement with Croatia-based EV manufacturer Rimac, who can provide technological assistance. The Mint Concept is a different story. As a design study, the company built it exclusively to gather feedback. The feedback turned out to be quite positive, but that is about it. In order to shape the Mint into a production vehicle, Genesis would first have to find a suitable architecture to base it upon.
