2nd-gen Renault Captur photos leak online

Renault has uploaded photos of its second-gen Captur SUV – without a hint of test mule wrapping to be seen – to the database of a Chinese vehicle certification center. Simultaneously with this, it revealed some details about the car that will not premiere until considerably later this summer, so let us take a closer look at those.

The new Renault Captur uses the same basic platform as the latest Clio and is 141 mm (5.5 inches) longer, 19 mm (0.8”) wider and 27 mm (1.1”) taller than the first generation with 32 mm (1.25”) of added wheelbase. The precise dimensions are as follows: L: 4,263 mm (14 ft.), W: 1,797 mm (5.9 ft.), H: 1,593 mm (5.23 ft.), wheelbase: 2,638 mm (8.65 ft.).

The Chinese variant of the 2019 Captur will ship with the same 1.3-liter engine as the last generation, rated at either 133 hp (100 kW) or 159 hp (120 kW), depending on the trim version.

Dongfeng-Renault joint enterprise will soon begin the production in China. Sales will be limited to the domestic market.
