The Jurassic MegaRaptor Overlander camper is about as hardcore as they get

Kent Kiehl is a neuroscientist and psychology professor whose line of trade often brings him to work in a top security prison. Communicating with the inmates there can be excruciatingly taxing on the nervous system, and Kent often takes his family out for a few days in wilderness driving a unique Jurassic MegaRaptor Overlander.

U.S. tuner MegaRexx Trucks was responsible for creating the camper truck. The team started with a 2016 Ford F-250 and fitted it with the MegaRaptor package and the nüCamp Cirrus 820 camper module. Both are available in limited numbers, and seeing both installed on the same vehicle is therefore all the more interesting.

From the technical point of view, the Jurassic MegaRaptor Overlander sports a 115-mm (4.5-inch) suspension lift, Bilstein shocks, wheels taken straight from an MRAP military vehicle, and humongous 46-inch Michelin tires. There is also a Warn winch mounted on a heavy-duty front bumper and a number of other similar upgrades.

The camper part, which should be easily detachable, houses a miniature kitchen, a large bed and a sitting area. The interior benefits from a natural wood trim interspersed with red highlights.

Perhaps most interestingly, though, the ride exerts a whopping 600 hp (447 kilowatts) along with 850 Nm (627 pound-feet) of torque from a tuned 6.7-liter turbocharged diesel V8. The new fuel tank holds up to 189 liters (50 U.S. gallons) of fuel and promises up to 1,300 kilometers (800+ miles) of uninterrupted driving.

Kent Kiehl’s future plans for his extreme truck include fitting it with roof solar panels, a central tire inflation system, and better brakes.
