Car Tuning

dÄHLer's latest take on the BMW 135i (E82) is extreme in just the right way

Every tuner has its own signature style, wouldn’t you say? For instance, most projects by Switzerland-based car shop dÄHLer are rather understated yet elegant and full of a unique kind of aesthetics. But sometimes – perhaps to show their range, as well as enjoy a bit of diversity – the guys come up with something entirely different. Look at this BMW 135i Coupe (E82), you will see what we mean.

The project is dubbed “dÄHLer Race Line”, and the result looks like a track tool that just about manages to stay road-legal. As far as we know, this is a first of its kind, but if the public likes it, we could be seeing many more in the future.

As you can see, this 135i clearly aspires to resemble a 1-Series M Coupe. Similarities start with the front apron (complete with an integrated splitter) and continue all the way to the rear apron (check out the telltale 1M air vents). A fixed rear wing contributes to both style and dynamics, and you can adjust its height and shape manually in between races.

Another major mod comes in the shape of OZ Racing ultralight forged wheels clad in racing-grade sleeks. The entire car comes wrapped in a red/white vinyl wrap. With a single Atech sports seat and a roll cage, the cabin is as minimalistic as possible.

Rounding off the BMW M135i dÄHLer Race Line are a few power upgrades. The 3.0-liter twin-turbo V6 has been reworked to deliver 430 horsepower (321 kilowatts) instead of the standard 306 hp (228 kW). The maximum torque also rises from 450 Nm (332 lb-ft) to 550 Nm (406 lb-ft). A purpose-designed exhaust system makes sure the power surplus is heard.
