BMW M235i Gran Coupe gets spotted out in the open

Car spotters have managed to track down another BMW 2 Series Gran Coupe. This one looks like the range-topping M235i version, which shares its grille design and M-branded blue calipers with the already available M135i.

The BMW 2 Series Gran Coupe is a new four-door model that will compete with the Mercedes-Benz CLA range when it comes out. The company released the first teaser in May and should show us a production sample in November.

The car is around 4.5 meters (14.75 ft.) long, which is only marginally longer than the 4.43 m (14.53 ft.) of the current two-door 2 Series Coupe. Unlike its predecessor, it comes strictly front-driven and uses the same platform as the new 1 Series, X1, X2, and 2 Series Active Tourer. The wheelbase will likely match the 2.67 meters (8.76 ft.) of the models listed above.

Just like the M135i, the “hot” M235i Gran Coupe will ship with AWD and a 2.0-liter turbo-four engine rated at 306 hp (228 kW).

The new 2 Series is expected to hit the market in the spring of 2020.
