Elizabeth Taylor’s Rolls-Royce looking for new owner

They used to call the ‘the Queen of Hollywood’. She won three Oscars and could easily ask for a million dollars for a role. Of course, this is the inimitable Elizabeth Taylor we are talking about.

The Green Goddess – a splendid Rolls-Royce Silver Cloud II Drophead born in the 1960s – was one of the more extravagant purchases made be the famous actress. The car is fairly rare even among peers, since it comes with the left-hand drive.

Elizabeth personally asked to have her car painted a unique shade of green, because it matched the color of her wedding dress. The rich and renowned have their fancies, and the actress was no exception.

The Telegraph points out a Rolls-Royce Silver Cloud II Drophead would ‘normally’ sell for U.S. $700,000 at most. This particular example, however, may fetch as much as $7,000,000. Despite its respectable age, the vehicle only has a mere 41,000 miles (66,000 kilometers) under its belt.

Arlan Ettinger, head of Guernsey's Auctioneers & Brokers, says this was just about ‘the most glamorous car money could buy at the time. It has a fascinating history. Unlike many celebrities who own a car for a short while and then pass it on, she became identified with this car.’

Collectors, ready your wallets!
