AutoExpress demolishes a LEGO Chevrolet Corvette ZR1 during a crash test

The editorial staff at AutoExpress (British motoring magazine) must have felt tired of conventional crash tests almost invariably ending with the cars being awarded 5/5 Euro NCAP stars, despite the rather varied outcomes. So they took a LEGO brick model of the Chevrolet Corvette ZR1 and tried that one.

The test method involved a full head-on collision with a wall. The first test, performed at just 4 kilometers (2.5 miles) per hour, went exceptionally well. The second one raised the stakes considerably with the vehicle movement speed of 16 km/h (10 mph). The impact was enough to make the toy car bounce into the air and lose some of its parts, including the wheels.

The third and final test, run at 16+ km/h (10+ mph), proved fatal for the Lego Chevrolet Corvette ZR1. The damages list included completely destroyed suspension, detached wheels, and seriously deformed hood and sides. The body of the car, its doors and the roof stayed intact, though, as did the engine.

Alright, all we need right now is your honest opinion. So… How many Euro NCAP stars?
