Karma coming to Pebble Beach with a tech-laden speedster EV

Californian carmaker Karma Automotive will attend the Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance with the SC1 Vision Concept, an all-electric speedster and design study.

The overall styling of the SC1 Vision has been inspired by the Hughes H-1 racing aircraft from the 1930s. The company says it only needed 12 months to design and assemble the one-off vehicle.

The car comes equipped with an ‘innovative’ multimedia system with 5G support and an AI-based ‘humanized communication system’ that recognizes voice commands, talks in a natural spoken language and tracks eye movements. It can also identify the owner and passengers using biometrical scanners.

The Karma SC1 Vision packs several cameras, six lidars and eight radars, which enables it to go fully autonomous. Once activated, the system assumes control over the car and launches an augmented reality-powered entertainment program, telling the passengers of all nearby landmarks and points of interest.

Finally, the concept car introduces personal acoustic chambers the manufacturer describes as ‘sound cocoons’, adding that the feature is going to be implemented in production cars soon.
