SCG boasts the Boot, company’s first SUV with 15.4” of ground clearance

James Glickenhaus, CEO and owner of Scuderia Cameron Glickenhaus, has shared a photo of the U.S. car company’s new production off-roader called the Boot. Essentially a modern re-interpretation of the Hurst Baja Boot from the 1960s, James claims the car doesn’t need any aftermarket upgrades to do a successful Baja 1000 run.

There is little being revealed about the car at this moment. We know for a fact that the SCG Boot rides on rally-spec wheels wrapped in BFGoodrich All-Terrain T/A K02 tires, Fox shock absorbers with bypass air ducts,  and Wilwood Dynapro brake calipers. The ground clearance amounts to an impressive 15.4 inches (394 millimeters).

Customers will be able to opt for Wilwood Aero6 racing-spec brakes, dual shocks, a Gearworks Turbo 400 transmission, larger fuel tanks, suspension travel up to 560 mm / 21.9” (base: 480 mm / 18.75”), a communication array, a GPS navigator, and even ventilated helmets. All of the above doesn’t just make the SCG Boot Baja 1000-capable – it actually makes it Baja 1000-compliant.

Powering the SUV is a 6.2 GM LT4 engine of the previous-gen Chevrolet Corvette Z06, rated at 659 hp (491 kW) and 881 Nm (650 pound-feet) of torque.
