Drako unveils its hyper-EV with insane 8,800 Nm of torque

Drako Motors, a Californian automotive startup, has officially revealed the GTE, its fully electric hypercar powered by four permanent-magnet engines and allegedly offering GT-like levels of comfort.

The total power delivery to the ground is estimated at 1,217 hp (908 kW), but even this number seems tame compared to the peak torque of 8,000 Nm (6,500 pound-feet).

Drako Motors says developing the electric vehicle in cooperation with Fisker took 10 long years. One of the pride points of the entire project is its purpose-built active torque control system, which adjusts torque on a per-wheel basis as often as 1,000 times per second. It remains unknown how fast the Drako GTE is in a straight line, but the company caps the top speed at 332 km/h (206 mph).

Interestingly, the car offers seats for four people, as well as a decent trunk. The battery is rated at 90 kWh, with the actual driving range figures still pending.

The project is based on a Fisker chassis, Öhlins suspension and Brembo brakes. Customers may opt for 20- or 21-inch large wheels clad in Michelin Pilot Sport 4S or Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2s tires.

Drako Motors intends to limit the production run to 25 copies priced at U.S. $1,250,000 each. First shipments begin next year, but pre-orders are already open.
