Fiat Toro spied testing on public roads

Two instances of the new Fiat Toro have been caught on the camera during road tests. The update seems to bring the appearance of the pickup truck closer to that of the Fiat Fastback coupe/SUV (see video).

The original Toro rolled off the assembly lines in 2016 and received a mild mid-generational refresh in June this year, ending up a new front bumper design, a styling package, and new trim configurations. Now, it looks like another update is on the way.

The 2020 truck is expected to ship with a new 1.3-liter turbo-four engine powered by gasoline and ethanol fuel. Its performance remains unannounced, so, while the company says it will retire one of its two older engines once the 1.3 unit comes out, it remains uncertain just which one. Currently, there is a 1.8-liter mill rated close to 136 hp (100 kW) and a larger 2.4-liter one with ~180 hp (~135 kW) at its command. There is also a two-liter diesel variant of the Toro, which churns out 170 hp (127 kW) and is the only one to support 4WD.

Like before, the Fiat Toro will be sold exclusively in South America. In Europe, the marque primarily focuses on compact cars.
