New Land Rover Defender LEGO model is just like the real thing

LEGO launched a constructor set for the next-gen 2020 Land Rover Defender just as the latter premiered in Frankfurt.

The set consists of 2,573 elements and pieces together into a 40cm (16”) replica of the SUV. The level of detail is quite remarkable even by the high modern standards. Highlights include flat body panels, per-wheel suspension, precisely proportioned wheels, three differentials, a functional winch, and a complex transmission system. The toy car (if you are fine with calling it that) even packs some external equipment that the real-life 2020 Defender only gets if you pay extra.

On a curious note, LEGO came close to spoiling the exterior of the still-unannounced Land Rover Defender in June this year, when it accidentally published some shots of the toy car with all the design traits of the real SUV.

The set will go on sale on October 1, 2019 – that is, quite a bit ahead of the car that inspired it.
