Mazda schedules its first EV for 2019 Tokyo Motor Show reveal

According to Mazda press service, the company will showcase its first all-electric production car ever at the 2019 Tokyo Motor Show coming up on October 23*.

Mazda claims it has designed its first EV after conducting extensive market research to find out what the potential customers really want to see in a vehicle like this. According to the automaker, this is the car that can ‘make your life more vibrant and colorful.’

The overall design of the model draws upon the Kodo philosophy, the company reports. Nothing is being revealed about the chassis, the powertrain or the specs. The body style and class also remain unannounced, although rumors insist it is a compact car.

*In case you didn’t know, Tokyo, Japan is the destination for two different auto shows: the Tokyo Auto Salon, which is annual and usually held in January, and the Tokyo Motor Show, which is biennial and held in October. 2019 has both.
