New Mercedes-Benz S-Class test pilot hides dashboard from prying eyes

Mercedes-Benz continues testing its next-gen S-Class (W223). We have already seen photos and videos of the car before, but this time the test pilot reacted to the spotter’s camera in a way some find mysterious.

The footage here provides a good view of the new S-Class’ front grille and headlights, while the door handles remain concealed with wrap. This might mean that a new keyless access system is under development.

The most intriguing bit happens when the car stops before the traffic lights. Upon seeing the camera man, the driver abruptly moves to cover the instrument panel. This appears to make little sense because images showing the digital dashboard have leaked online much earlier.

We see two possible ways in which this could be explained: either the driver was simply following instructions, or a new, experimental feature is underway that we are not aware of.
