Maybach SUV sheds camo

Car spotters have repeatedly sighted the latest Mercedes-Maybach GLS in its full test mule wrap, but never without it – until today.

In the inevitable comparison against the standard Mercedes GLS, the luxed-up SUV sports the signature Maybach grille, a different rear bumper, and huge wheels. While not visible on the photos, it also most likely boasts numerous chrome highlights.

The most interesting stuff should be expected inside, though. Mercedes promises to ship the model with a brand-new air aromatization system that will use a unique combination of fragrances. Other notable features include individual massage seats, a new center console, and a high-end audio system.

It remains uncertain what kind of engines the Maybach GLC will ship with. It seems matter-of-course that it will get the familiar 4.0-liter V8 rated at 460 hp (343 kW), but the details are still a matter of speculation. Perhaps it will be a hybrid vehicle with 500 hp (373 kW) or more under the hood. That said, the six-liter V12 that all Maybachs are so famous for is also possible, despite the emission laws.

The production of the Mercedes-Maybach GLS will begin in the USA next year. The premiere will likely commence either at the 2019 Los-Angeles Auto Show or the 2020 Detroit Motor Show in January.
